Monday Morning Exercise Motivation

Remember the first time you ran on a treadmill? What about the first/last time you fell off of one, or tripped over your own shoes and quickly looked around to make sure nobody in the gym saw what a clutz you are? I think we can all relate to this funny running bear simply trying to get his morning exercise out of the way.

And if this has happened to you to, don’t worry – you’re not alone! I still shiver every time I think back to 2001 when I reached up to change the TV channel and stepped off the side of a treadmill in mid-stride – and fell into the metal railing! If that isn’t embarrassing enough, try being a personal trainer warming up for a triathlon workout with one of your peers. I tried to act like nothing was wrong, but the fact that my colleagues made bets on whether or not I was going to lose my breakfast during my third anaerobic set of medicine ball wall throws indicated otherwise. It turned out that the stabbing pain in my side every time I tried to breathe was worse than I thought. That little mis-step off the side of the treadmill cracked my ribs! Lesson of the day: never play with the TV when you’re mid-stride during a run on a treadmill. Second lesson of the day: laugh!
